Recovery Canvas started as a tribute to Esther, the pediatric child life specialist who greatly supported one of our team members during in-patient treatment for anorexia nervosa in the summer of 2020. Esther provided her with canvases and acrylic paint to pass time during a long stay at the hospital. Painting and visual arts quickly became an intimate process, with inspiration, beauty and a journey of healing as its function. Works made on canvas specifically became a coping mechanism to fight the grips of an eating disorder. In light of Esther's kindness and love, we would like to dedicate this project to her, and hope to carry the same compassion in our work and communities.
